NRC Products

NRC, LLC is a total recycler, recycling and processing rubber through five divisions:

Buffings & Crumb Rubber – The collecting and processing of rubber particles produced through the process of retreading and in-house production, the end product of which is used for a wide variety of products in such diverse fields as playground, artificial turf, ground covering for the equine industry, rubberized asphalt and hoses for molded and extruded products.
Casings – The application of a new tread rubber to a casing (reusable tire). NRC, LLC believes that retreading is the best recycling use of waste tires because it extends the life of the tire one to three times its original life.
Treads – The custom cutting (mechanically) of waste tires for the carpet, marine fenders, and safety equipment industry.
Sidewalls – The custom cutting (mechanically) of waste tires for the carpet, marine fenders and safety equipment industry and dairy industry.

About Us

About NRCCO

NRC, LLC was founded to serve as an environmentally friendly rubber processing facility. One of the strengths of our company has been the proven talents of our management team. The waste tire market continues to attract attention from consumers and the media alike. The all too familiar sight of a pile of tires, often dumped illegally, can be cause for concern. Waste tires cannot be buried in landfills. OVER TIME THE TIRES ACTUALLY RESURFACE. Air pockets cause the tires to be a permanent hazard because the tire will continually rise to the surface where it collects debris. If handled improperly, the management of a tire recycling program can become a nightmare. When managed diligently and creatively, the industry offers a wealth of opportunity.

We want to help you do your part to protect the environment. All tires are inspected and sorted according to the various recycling methods we have developed in-house. The tires we cannot currently recycle in-house are (1)transported to other recycling companies who have other recycling methods in place or (2)shredded for ADC, tire mono fill or landfill. When we dispose of your tires, they are buffed and cut up for such uses as marine bumpers, playground surface material, and crumb rubber just to name a few.

If you need tire disposal service, contact us. We will discuss your needs and what will work best for you. We offer quotes on one time clean-up projects or we can put you on a schedule for weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly pick-up service.

    Crumb Rubber FAQs

What is the advantage of Crumb Rubber for athletic fields?

Crumb Rubber gives athletic fields the extra cushioning and bounce that rubber is known for, which is a real boon for athletes! And Crumb Rubber is a terrific asset in wet weather, since it dries instantaneously and provides the extra traction that keeps fields safe, even after the rain.

What is the difference between the two available sizes of Crumb Rubber?

Crumb Rubber is available in 6 mesh and 10 mesh. Although both sizes are suitable for playing fields, 10 mesh Crumb Rubber is finer. The finer the rubber, the more smoothly is spreads and gets incorporated into the ground.

Synthetic Turf Products Are Kid Safe

According to an article from the Southwest Greens in San Francisco and San Jose, synthetic turf products are kid safe and pet friendly backyard additions.  Placing backyard artificial greens in one’s home can help eliminate certain areas in ones backyard that might be unsafe for children to play in. These lawns can help create safe play areas for kids and family pets to be in outdoors.  These synthetic lawns can provide uneven surfaces with the provided protection kids need to prevent minor injuries and falls from occurring. Due to using no dirt or mud, kids are able to play and roll around in this artificial grass and still come back inside with clean clothes.

Some additional advantages to using artificial grass are:

    • Low to no maintenance required
    • Can last a lifetime
    • Durable and Reliable
    • Easy to install

    Playground Turf

When looking for durability, safety, and the perfect play place for children, artificial playground turf is the way to go. You will find that synthetic playground turf exceeds other options such as wood chips or rubber tiles while taking away the element of upkeep and the mess associated with grass lawns. Parents, childcare workers, and kids will love having a beautiful, soft, and clean yard year-round.

Every parent knows that when it comes to running, swinging, and playing children, safety is the number one priority. Our playground turf delivers cushioning for falls that other alternatives cannot provide. The texture and softness will not leave abrasions from tripping, allowing running and jumping and even the occasional fall to be a no tears occasion. The synthetic materials used are completely safe for children and the environment. For caregivers with concerns about pests, standing water, or grass allergies, our turf is a simple answer. The kids never worry about getting hurt, but now parents can rest easy as well.

As far as durability, lasting quality, and ease in cleaning and maintenance,
artificial turf is a wonderful option. Muddy feet and grass stains disappear. The play space is available moments after rain due to the excellent drainage, and remains green and soft in any temperature. Designed to withstand the elements and children in constant motion, it will last for years. The turf can be installed on any surface and you can choose various amounts of padding to accommodate concrete and to soil foundations.

In comparison to traditional wood chips, rubber mats or filling, this turf has far greater benefits to offer. The padding and texture makes it far safer in protecting your child in falls and tripping. You do not have to deal with splinters, unsafe objects being buried, weeds, hardening or cracking. The appearance is also much more friendly and inviting both for the children and adults. The entire family will be pleased with your new grass.

    Recycling Tire Process

As with any recycling program, consumers must be aware of the importance and need for recycling an item. Tires claim a good deal of space in landfills, taking up an enormous amount of room with a product that can be readily converted into other products for everyday use. Notifying consumers of proper tire recycling limits illegal dumping as well as provides enough scrap for processing tires for consumption as another product.

According to the Scrap Tire Management Council, 250 million scrap tires are generated in the U.S. each year. Rubber from scrap tires is one of the main sources of scrap rubber. Crumb rubber (recycled rubber from scrap tires) is produced by processing tires, removing any metallic contents. Recycled rubber is finding various uses in many aspects of life.

    Asphalt

    1. Asphalt is used as a binder in road construction. When mixed with crumb rubber, asphalt’s lifespan improves by three times. Rubber improves the durability of asphalt by improving its behavior at low and high temperatures.

    Athletic Facilities

    1. Crumb rubber is used in synthetic tracks. It improves the tracks’ durability and resiliency. It also enhances the drainage capability of the track. Rubber is inherently elastic in nature. Therefore mixing it in tracks makes the surface softer for athletes and results in fewer ground-related injuries.

    Buildings

    1. When mixed with concrete, crumb rubber improves concrete’s thermal (heat transfer) and sound absorption properties.

    Composting Sewage

    1. Crumb rubber helps in composting municipal sewage sludge. It is more useful than wood chips (the more frequently used ingredient) because it does not disintegrate and can be used repeatedly.

    Mulch

    1. Crumb rubber when used in mulch helps with conserving soil moisture and moderating soil temperature. It helps control the amount of water and fertilizers needed in landscaping and reduces the amount of pesticides needed. The added advantage of crumb rubber is that it does not decompose, hence keeping the cost low.

    Consider Synthetic Turf

The world of sports has historically been the primary market for synthetic turf. In sporting
applications, many factors enter into the decision to choose synthetic over natural turf. These
    include;

    1. Climate. Some areas may not enjoy a climate conducive for growing natural turf on a
year-round basis because of either severe summers or severe winters. Synthetic turf
provides a more consistent playing surface.

    2. Covered sports arenas. Often designed to increase spectator comfort, they also limit
natural sunlight making cultivation of natural turf more difficult.

    3. Reduced downtime. Although periodic maintenance and cleaning is necessary even in
the case of synthetic turf, yet these surfaces are more available since they do not require
seasonal fertilization and aeration as natural turf does. This is an important factor not
only for professional sports, but also for expanding school districts where increasing
uptime of existing playing fields through installation of synthetic turf may be more costeffective
    than new land acquisition.

    4. Cost. Although upfront costs of synthetic turf are many times greater than natural turf1,
over its life cycle synthetic turf may be cost-effective when one factors in reducedmaintenance, reduced downtime, and reduced irrigation bills. Unfortunately, reliable data about costs and benefits are not available at present to permit this assessment. Many of the synthetic turf manufacturers are privately held businesses that are loathe to
    sharing such data openly.

    5. Optimization for multiple sports. Since the properties of the latest generation synthetic
turf can be altered to some extent, it is possible to engineer a pitch that may be
acceptable for many different sports. For example, football players may prefer natural
turf, while field hockey players may prefer Astroturf, but both could perhaps find a
properly optimized infilled synthetic pitch acceptable, obviating the need for two playing
    fields.

    6. Recruiting. Choices made by competing institutions can play a part in whether a given
institution chooses natural or synthetic turf (“perception is reality”). This bandwagon
effect has probably worked both for and against synthetic turf at different points in time.
